[home] [about] [interviews] [arty links]

Hi, I’m Kitty Mead and I started interviewing some of my favorite artists back in 2004. Usually when I discover a new artist that I like, one of the first things that I do is check out their bio page. Not just their accomplishments, education, or what gallery shows they’ve been in, but the personal stuff... whether they have a significant other or kids (four-legged or otherwise) or whether they drink their coffee black or with cream. In other words, what they like to do when they’re not being creative.

Granted, that information isn’t frequently displayed as a permanent part of an artist’s biography, but I knew that I wasn’t the only one who was curious. So I thought that by asking some of these folks directly, in a short, not-so-serious interview, it would be a great way to find out whether they decorate their homes with their own artwork or what side of the bed they sleep on.
So that’s what I did.

In the last 5 years or so, artist interviews are commonplace. As are
art-based sites with visitor interaction, extensive links and great designs - much more in-depth than this site is. That’s cool. I’ll keep ArtBeatStreet up just for kicks - for the same reason that I created it.

I hope you find the little interviews fun to read. That was my intention. I’m also pretty sure some of the artists would like to update or obliterate their interviews - many have grown in popularity and/or have gone in a different direction than when I interviewed them.
No worries, ‘tis just a tiny blip in the overall scheme of things.

Cheers! ~Kitty
